“Then It Went Dark” Powder Magazine Article

It’s been a tough year in the action sports world, with some losses of highly respected athletes.  For me, the passing of Dave Mirra (who I’ve had the honor to work with quite a bit) and Erik Roner (a Tahoe fixture and legend) hit particularly close to home.

Thankfully, the following article has a relatively happy ending.   JT Holmes is a pro skier, base jumper, skydiver, and proximity flyer I’ve had the pleasure of filming and knowing personally for years.

This year has posed some of the highest avalanche risk in a decade in the High Sierras. The athletes we film risk their lives doing what they do.  For me, as a director, I am grateful to them but above all, respectful.  Respectful of their risks and limits, respectful of safety protocols, and respectful of the power of mother nature.  JT’s experience highlights the importance of all of these.

‘Then It Went Dark.’ —JT Holmes
